KNOW THE LOCATION
Surrey is a county in South East England which borders Kent to the east, East Sussex to the southeast, West Sussex to the south, Hampshire to the west, Berkshire to the northwest, and Greater London to the northeast. With about 1.2 million people, Surrey is the 12th-most populous English county which is divided into eleven districts. Guildford is commonly observed as the county town, although Surrey County Council is currently based in Reigate.
Three major motorways pass through the county, M25, M3 and M23, that easily make your travel to nearby counties and popular cities possible. Also, there are a number of national rail roots that enable long-distance journeys smooth and fast. The major stations in the county are Guildford, Woking, Epsom, Redhill and Staines.
The UK has a comprehensive, state-funded education system; accordingly, Surrey has 37 state secondary schools, 17 Academies, 7 sixth form colleges and 55 state primaries. The county has 41 independent schools, including Charterhouse (one of the nine independent schools mentioned in the Public Schools Act 1868) and the Royal Grammar School, Guildford. More than half the state secondary schools in Surrey have sixth forms. Brooklands (twinned with a site in Ashford, Surrey), Reigate, Esher, Egham, Woking and Waverley host sixth-form equivalent colleges each with technical specialisations and standard sixth-form study courses. Brooklands College offers aerospace and automotive design, engineering and allied study courses reflecting the aviation and motor industry-leading UK research and maintenance hubs nearby.
Located in the southeast of England, less than half an hour from central London, Surrey is a thrilling and diverse county to visit that is full of wonders.
There are so many things to do in Surrey, from visiting award-winning Surrey Hills vineyards and relaxing at country pubs, restaurants and hotels to exploring ancient heathland, stunning hilltop views, beautiful waterways and charming towns and villages.
Surrey is England's most wooded county. It is also home to rolling hills, valleys, and some of the best gardens in Britain. The Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty covers a quarter of our county, and it's perfect for walks, runs, cycling and horse riding.
