Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust started in 1792 as the Doncaster Dispensary. Today, the Trust is one of the leading acute trusts in Yorkshire that provides various medical facilities to 420,000 people across South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and the nearby areas through a workforce of over 6,000 employees across the following locations.

Doncaster Royal Infirmary (DRI)​

It is a large acute hospital with over 500 beds. DRI also has a 24 hours Emergency Department and a Trauma Unit and is equipped with a full range of district general hospital care. The specialist facilities of DRI include:

Bassetlaw Hospital in Worksop (BH)​

BH is also an acute hospital with facilities such as more than 170 beds, 24 hours Emergency Department and comprehensive coverage of district general hospital services. The hospital also has;

  • breast care unit 

  • renal dialysis

  • inpatient

  • day-case 

  • outpatient facilities


Montagu Hospital in Mexborough

It is a non-acute hospital with over 50 inpatient beds for patients who require additional rehabilitation before discharge. The hospital also has a nurse-led minor injuries unit that runs 12 hours (9 AM to 9 PM) a day. The facilities of the hospital include:

  • day surgery unit 

  • renal dialysis 

  • the chronic pain management unit 

  • wide range of outpatient clinics

  • rehabilitation centre 

  • clinical simulation centre 

  • abdominal aortic aneurysm screening programme


Retford Hospital and Chequer Road Clinic

The Trust provides services like outpatient service, clinical therapies, medical imaging, audiology and screening at Retford Hospital and Chequer Road Clinic. 


Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has earned a rating of Good for Effective, Caring, Responsive, Well-led, and Overall, from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), UK.
