Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was established by merging two major acute trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust, in Oct 2019. The merging was significant for modified plans and developments of NHS in the region and resulted in delivering more quality care.

The hospital is equipped with the Urgent Care and Trauma Centre, containing the Emergency Department, Major Trauma, Critical Care services and Frailty Assessment Unit.
