NORTHERN CARE ALLIANCE NHS GROUP (NCA)

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Group (NCA) brings together staff and services from Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (SRFT) and The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (PAT). The Trust delivers healthcare excellence to over one million people across Salford, Oldham, Rochdale and Bury. With a dedicated team consists of 19,500 members, the hospitals also provide specialist services to patients from Greater Manchester and beyond, intending to deliver consistently high standards of care to them all.
The Northern Care Alliance NHS Group contains four Care Organisations, which are;

Salford Royal: Salford Royal was the first hospital in the north of England to achieve the highest rating of Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. It’s now the major trauma centre for Greater Manchester and the hub site for high-risk emergency general surgery for Salford, Bolton and Wigan.

The Royal Oldham Hospital: The Royal Oldham Hospital is located close to Oldham town centre, 8 miles northeast of Manchester. The hospital has a fully equipped accident and emergency department and offers a comprehensive range of acute and general surgical services, including vascular surgery. The site also provides clinical haematology and gynaecological services to patients in North Manchester. 

Rochdale Infirmary: Rochdale Infirmary is the smallest hospital run by the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group. It is situated close to Rochdale town centre and lies 14 miles northeast of Manchester. 
The hospital provides a wide range of services, including: 

  • 24/7 Urgent Care Centre (UCC)

  • Short-stay inpatient Clinical Assessment Unit 

  • Oasis unit for acute medical patients with dementia 

  • Day surgery 

  • Specialist Pennine Rheumatology Centre 

  • X-ray and blood testing 

  • Antenatal services 

  • Early pregnancy unit 

  • Outpatient clinics 

  • New specialist Eye Unit

Fairfield General Hospital in Bury 

Fairfield General Hospital is the third-largest hospital run by the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group. It is located 2 miles from the centre of Bury and 10.5 miles north of Manchester. 
The hospital is the only remaining hospital in Bury and is one of three primary stroke units in Greater Manchester. It is also the central site for elective surgery in the North Manchester area.
