KNOW THE LOCATION
The North Riding of Yorkshire became an administrative county in 1889, and the town's municipal borough became a county borough as well. County Durham and the North Riding of Yorkshire boroughs and parishes formed the County Borough of Teesside from 1968 to 1974. Cleveland was established as a non-metropolitan county in 1974, and remained so until 1996, when the Middlesbrough Borough Council (now known as Middlesbrough Council) became a unitary authority in North Yorkshire. Tees Valley Combined Authority includes the authority.
In 2019, the borough's population was estimated to be 140,980, ranking it as the 155th most populous district in England. The Middlesbrough subdivision of the Teesside built-up area had a population of 174,700 at the time of the 2011 census; the population is larger due to an area outside the council area known as Greater Eston. The population of the built-up area, of which Middlesbrough is the most populous, was 376,633.
Education
Sunderland has eighteen secondary schools, the majority of which are comprehensive. The exam results at St Robert of Newminster Catholic School, a coeducational secondary and sixth form in Washington, are excellent. Comprehensive schools, on the other hand, thrive, such as St Anthony's (for girls) and St Aidan's (for boys). Both continue to receive high marks. Sunderland is home to 76 primary schools. Doxford Park's Mill Hill Primary School has the highest 'Value Added.'
Transport
Bus: The bus station in Middlesbrough is open seven days a week from 5 am to 12 pm. Throughout the year, the bus station is open 362 days a year. It is closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, as well as Boxing Day if it falls on a weekend. It is also closed on Thanksgiving Day. Passengers can travel to a variety of locations throughout Middlesbrough. There are also bus services that connect Stockton to the Tees Valley and other parts of the region, including the cities of Hartlepool, Durham, Newcastle, and Scarborough.
Train: Approximately a five-minute walk from the town centre is Middlesbrough's main railway station. The main station entrance is located on Bridge Street West, and a second entrance can be found on Albert Road, close to the Albert Bridge, which is accessible via a pedestrian bridge. When entering the station through the Bridge Street West entrance, lifts are available to take you to either of the two platforms.
