Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust

The Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust serves 258,000 people in Southport, Formby, and West Lancashire, both in the hospital and in the community. Aside from the Southport and Formby District General Hospitals, the Ormskirk and District General Hospital also offers emergency care. This includes both adult and paediatric emergency services, intensive care, and a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. Ormskirk Hospital provides a variety of other services for women and children in addition to maternity care.

According to the hospital's website, the North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport Hospital provides specialised care for spinal patients from all over the North West, North Wales, and the Isle of Man. The Trust also offers sexual health services to residents of the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.

Southport is a significant seaside town in Merseyside, England. During the 2001 census, it had a population of 90,336 people, ranking it eleventh among the largest towns in North West England. Southport is located on the Irish Sea coast and is bounded to the north by the Ribble estuary. When you arrive in Southport, you can leave the town behind and walk to Southport Beach, where you can build sandcastles or stroll down the pier and take in the breathtaking coastal views.

Transport 

Bus: Southport has a fantastic bus and tram network that connects it to all nearby destinations. Southport is served by 58 bus lines, which make 492 stops. 

During peak hours, bus routes 704, 713, and 719 run every 5-15 minutes, and off-peak hours, they run every 10-30 minutes. 

Trams run every 15 minutes or less on weekdays between 5 a.m. and midnight, and every hour of the day and night on weekends.

Rail: Southport Train Station is served by trains from a variety of towns and cities. 

Trains to Southport run frequently from Manchester Airport, Manchester (Piccadilly, Oxford Road, and Victoria Stations), Bolton, and Wigan, as well as other North West locations. Manchester Piccadilly Airport serves services to and from the North East and Yorkshire, while Wigan International Airport serves services from the North, Scotland, and the South. Merseyrail, which is known for its speed and frequency, provides service between Liverpool South Parkway (for Liverpool John Lennon Airport), Liverpool City Centre, and Southport.

Occupational Health The Occupational Health Department offers a range of services including telephone based advice and guidance on a Self-referral basis.

Staff Physiotherapy Staff with a newly developed Musculoskeletal problem can have it assessed and treated by the Trust`s Out Patient Physiotherapy staff. The service is designed as a relatively fast turnaround service to assist in keeping staff at work, or aide their return to work. It is also to prevent problems becoming chronic, and for that reason it is only new acute and sub-acute problems that have only existed for 4 weeks in duration or less that can be accepted. There are, however, no restrictions on the area of the body that is involved. 

 

Smoking Cessation / Alcohol Support / Weight Management Healthy Stockport is a free, confidential local support service to help people make positive lifestyle changes. The service offers practical support on healthy eating, moving more, smoking, healthy weight, mental wellbeing and alcohol services
